When it comes to Sayuri, we bonded over nerding out about food and being the “oldies” amongst the youngsters wherever we went.
But age is just a world’s gauge. This chill gal has her own YouTube channel and I highly recommend checking it out and subscribing!

Her channel is centered around taking tourists and foreigners to local restaurants so they can satisfy their foodie curiosity and experience the wonder of Japan through food. Here’s how it works: you reach out to her through her YouTube channel, let her know what foods you’re interested in trying, schedule a time and date, and then get ready to enjoy delicious food and quality time with a wonderful person — Sayuri.
For me, it all started one day when one of her clients couldn’t make it, so she reached out to me instead. Quality time, new experiences, good food, and the opportunity to share the love of God? Sign me up! God used that simple opportunity to build a friendship that distance can’t separate.

Almost all of our adventures revolved around food, but honestly, that’s where many of Jesus’ ministry moments happened too, right? We made senbei, visited some of her favorite coffee shops (including the one she works at — The Morning Folks in Oshiage near Tokyo Skytree), shared meals while exchanging Japanese lessons, and even learned the art of Japanese calligraphy from her friend Maki! Now, any time I hear of friends or family visiting Japan I’ll say, “So, how would you feel about being on my friend’s YouTube channel?!”
Check it out! You’ll learn so much!
